Advanced Geospatial Analysis
Advanced Geospatial Analytics (NCSU GIS 520) follows Introduction to Geographic Information Science (NCSU GIS 510) focusing on applied geospatial technology using analytics. GIS 520 builds geoprocessing skills and the understanding of the analysis capabilities of geospatial technology.
Throughout the semester, students learn: to select and perform appropriate advanced geoprocessing functions for specific objectives, how to integrate and analyze data in various formats, how to identify data limitations for particular analytical applications, how to apply appropriate analysis techniques using different types of decision making objectives, how to search for, retrieve, and evaluate the suitability of, and integrate data sets for specific types of applications and how to build simple customizations for the user interface.
